For those days when you’re in need of a little inspiration, however, we thought we’d share our latest recipe with you. We’ve been enjoying our Plush Porridge Oats with on-trend Tahini, which has seen a rise in popularity this year.
Tahini is created from sesame seeds, and contains high-protein levels. It’s a good source of B vitamins and is used in Eastern Mediterranean and North African cuisines quite regularly. It’s often added to hummus and baba ghanoush, but has been appearing more and more in sweet bakes this year. Tahini looks just like a nut butter, but with a more savoury and nutty taste for those who prefer a less-sweet start to the day. It’s yummy paired with sweet items like bananas, dates, dark chocolate and pure maple syrup. Tahini is often gluten-free too, but always worth checking the labels in-store.
Here’s our quick-fix recipe for a delish sweet and savoury recipe to kick-start your day:
Tahini, Banana and Dark Chocolate Plush Porridge Oats
- Ingredients (for 2 servings)
- 130g x Chiltern Natural Foods Plush Porridge Oats
- Cinnamon to Taste
- 2 tbsp x Tahini Paste
- 390ml x Milk of your choice
- 1 x Medium-Sized Banana
- Dark Chocolate Shavings
Step1: Add the oats, cinnamon, tahini and milk to a saucepan, on a low heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Once creamy and hot, cook for a further minute.
Step 2: Divide the mixture between two bowls. Chop up the banana and serve on top with a sprinkling of dark chocolate shavings.
